Spanning 35 tracks across two discs, Demos From the Grave brings together DECEASED’s cult early recordings: 1986’s The Evil Side of Religion, 1988’s Birth by Radiation, 1989’s Nuclear Exorcist, and a previously unreleased 10-song rehearsal from 1989. These formative demos captured the raw, raucous energy that first put DECEASED on the metal map and laid the foundation for their rise from the death metal underground throughout the ’90s.
Here, the band’s roots in thrashing early death metal are on full display—scrappy and explosive, yet already hinting at the classic heavy metal influences they would later refine in the 2000s. And while vocalist/drummer King Fowley had not yet developed his signature narrative lyricism, the grisly themes of ultimate horror ran rampant through every track, vivid and vile.
Rounding out the package is a 16-page booklet, featuring the original demo covers, old band photos, lyrics, and killer artwork by Raul Gonzalez Serrano inspired by the demos.
