Black Pyramid play doom with the rumbling down-tuned tones of stoner metal gods but with the epic arrangements of old school metal and doom acts. Add to the sonic brew perfectly executed forays into vintage psych and progressive rock, along with the apocalyptic lyrical ravings about war, the occult, and general alienation, and you've got an accurate picture of what the band is all about. In the summer of 2022, Black Pyramid entered Sonelab Studios in Easthampton Massachusetts to record the album ?The Paths of Time Are Vast,? their first new full-length album since 2013. In some ways the new songs revisited the roots of their first album, centering around mind-crushing riffs blasted through massive amplification, stone-solid drumming, energetic basslines, impassioned vocal deliveries, and esoteric lyrics. The breadth of time had led the band to travel new paths outside the confines of the doom continuum; experimenting with complex, longform arrangements, space rock and post-metal styled psychedelic soundscapes took the band?s sound into a whole other cosmic dimension.
